Major extraction licence granted for Tarmac Marine
“This new licence is another major boost to Tarmac’s marine mineral reserves.”
Dr Andrew Bellamy, resources manager, Marine Aggregates
We’ve been granted a new Marine Licence for 10 million tonnes of sand and gravel off the coast of the Isle of Wight.
The new licence, six miles off the famous Needles, runs for 15 years and allows up to 850,000 tonnes worth of prime aggregate to be extracted each year.
Dr Andrew Bellamy, resources manager, said: “This new licence is another major boost to Tarmac’s marine mineral reserves and we are delighted to finally receive the green light from the government to begin aggregate extraction”.
“We are confident that the high quality of the sand and gravel in this new site will bring significant benefits to our Marine business in the coming years.”
