Using CO2 in an accelerated carbonation technology (ACT), CO2 is captured as stable carbonates, which chemically stabilise and encapsulate, reducing the pH of the system and locking up heavy metals.

The resulting product, C8agg is used as aggregate replacement in concrete products.

Overall, this process permanently captures more CO2 than is generated during manufacture, forming the world’s first carbon-negative aggregate.
