Griffiths becomes part of our Contracting Business

“We are delighted to have the Griffiths team as part of the Tarmac family – the acquisition streghtens our overall civils and highways customer offering in key market and builds on our own team of experts, strategic sites and logistics operations.”

Paul Fleetham, Managing Director, Contracting

In January 2018, construction business Alun Griffiths, a successful and well-respected regional civil engineering and surfacing business in the UK, operating largely in Wales, the Midlands, and South West England became part of Tarmac’s Contracting business.

Griffiths is a well-known and highly regarded company, with an expert workforce. They are a valuable addition to Tarmac, boosting our competitiveness and bringing us closer to customers in key markets. Griffiths’ principal sectors of expertise include highways and bridges, rail, utilities, surfacing, integrated transport, urban regeneration and water management.

They directly employ their own workforce and have an extensive plant fleet. This will strengthen our overall civils and highways customer offer, building upon our own team of expert people, our strategic sites, logistics and operations.

The business has operated for 50 years and has over 700 employees operating out of six regional offices.

Griffiths works with all key clients in their operating area. It has delivered major projects, including the A483 Newtown Bypass, South Bristol Link Road, Llanaber and Barmouth Sea Defences and numerous projects on the M4.
