Tarmac celebrate at the 2018 MPA safety awards

It was a great day at the MPA Safety Awards 2018 for Tarmac where we were recognised an award for excellence in the projects contribution categories.

Tarmac Building Products celebrated winning the ‘Reducing Occupational Road Risk’ safety award for their innovative ‘void guard’. The guard was developed by the team to increase the stability of lightweight blocks in transit.

Mike Howard, regional transport manager, Building Products, who collected the award, said: “It’s a fantastic achievement to be involved in the design, development and implementation of the void guards and this award recognises the 18 months of hard work to get it right”. “This was a real team effort with great collaboration from the operations teams at Linford and Alfreton and our drivers who supported the various trials and gave valuable feedback throughout. Our Contracting (safety culture programme on the A1 Darlington) and Materials (transport safety week) businesses were also finalists at the 2018 awards.
