The event, supported by 3M and Professor Simon Mosey, professor of entrepreneurship and innovation at the University of Nottingham, saw 190 entries submitted.

The panel of judges from our leadership teaminvited 14 companies to present their ideas at the event.

The guests each had 15 minutes to pitch to the panel, with no PowerPoint allowed. Each group was also given four challenges faced by Tarmac and asked to come up with innovative and effective solutions.

Atlantic Pumps, who work with us on our pumping requirements, were named winners of the event.Jonathan Harry, Procurement director, said: “We are keen to work closer with our suppliers, using their understanding of how we operate and innovations to help make our business better.”

“The Innovation Challenge has been a great way for us to hear about these ideas and we will develop the best three in conjunction with the suppliers. There were almost 200 ideas submitted for this first Innovation Challenge and we feel there is much more to come from closer collaboration with the supply chain.””
